Music
In this atmospheric concert film, the Australian Chamber Orchestra fills Sydney's stunning Town Hall with rapturous melodies.
Inspired by the idea of rapture and revolution, this concert opens with Schubert's dramatic and unfinished "Quartettsatz." In a moment of complete rapture, Artistic Director Richard Tognetti delivers a stirring performance of Vaughan Williams' universally loved "The Lark Ascending. " The concert concludes with two powerful arrangements of Beethoven string quartets. At the hands of the ACO's dynamic artistry, it's easy to understand why Beethoven is said to have finished his String Quartet in B-flat major, with tears falling onto his manuscript.
Filmed in front of the grand organ in Sydney's expansive Centennial Hall, this performance demonstrates the power of music to transcend time and touch the soul. Through Schubert's emotional depth, Vaughan Williams' serene beauty, and Beethoven's profound intensity, the Australian Chamber Orchestra delivers a program that inspires and uplifts.
